In many ways, the school administrator can use operant conditioning to manage student behavior. In the classroom, positive reinforcement should be the primary way in managing the students’ behaviors. The school administrator does not only praise the student for doing the right thing, which is participating in class, but also indicates to the other students of what the expected behavior is. Using verbal praise is a subtle but incredibly effective way to let students know what is expected of them throughout the day. The school administrator can also reward extra credits as treats for the student who participate in the lesson. Negative reinforcement can also be used to keep students engaged in class.
