Pope Francis starts off his address by , redefining congresses responsibilities to our nation. Pope Francis said, “. . . it is to be abolished because it contradicts God’s plan for man and society.” Out of all Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching, Life and Dignity of the Human Person, will always be the most significant to me. My faith believes that, all human life is sacred and is to be protected. Dignity of every human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. This is so important not only because I agree, but because this principle is the very foundation all social teaching within my faith is built on. Francis said, “I am convinced that this way is the best, since every life is sacred, every human person is endowed with an inalienable dignity, and society can only benefit from the rehabilitation of those convicted of crimes. . .” The Pope put this subject into words so well, that even if one does not agree, it is hard to argue how sacred human life truly …show more content…
He perceives every human as equal, no matter where they came from or what they have done in their lives. The Pope in depth advises our society to end treating foreigners as aliens to humanity and treat them as the human being that they are. This reflects back on the Catholic Social Teaching Principle of Life and Dignity of the Human Person. This principle does not only apply to life or death circumstances, but also applies to every human deserving of dignity a respect. The Pope concludes on this issue with, the mention of the Principle of Solidarity. He says “. . . we are our brothers and sisters keepers; we are one human family and loving our neighbor’s neighbor has global dimensions.” This explains to congress and the people that we all share a common goal which requires us to have an overall understanding and desire to live through The Principle of
