Although, according to religionnews.com, “a federal judge declared on Dec. 13 Utah laws criminalizing polygamy are unconstitutional, ruling on a case involving the Brown family from TLC’s reality series ‘Sister Wives.’” Polygamy is recognized in over fifty countries. In these countries it is just as common as marriage between two people here in the United States, (Allison). According to "Legal Status of Polygamy," “in 2000, the United Nations Human Rights Committee considered polygamy a violation of the internationally binding International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) on the grounds that it violates the dignity of women, and recommended it be made illegal in all states.” This decision heavily influenced views on polygamy, and it further made polygamy a
