complex and challenging process. Often, victims suffer a host of indignities before,

Recommendations
The law should be more strict for stalking perpetrator due to the fact that their crime
is not the result of an incident but rather the repetition of the action. The pain and trauma
inflicted on the victim is in many cases irreversible meaning no matter how much
support and treatment the psychological effects will stay with them forever. Even first
time stalking offenders should not be given a soft punishment. Stalking offenders study
their victims and plan carefully how to commit their crime. The state of California should
simplify the punishment given to the perpetrators of stalking in order to
