The convoy had pushed through the ambush area without further incident, Sergeant Torres was able to contact the Regimental net and give them time and coordinates of the attack. There was a quick reaction force that was immediately dispatched to take care of the problem. It was a mile from post and there were a lot of civilians around post which they were responsible for protecting. They were in fact hunter – killer teams designed to hunt down the bad guys and eliminate them. The thought was that if they were going to fire on the military they wouldn’t have any problems hurting civilians. Prior to the event this would have been a police matter, they would have done their best to capture them and bring them before a court where they had rights. The military wasn’t a police force; there were security forces that worked alongside the military but fell under many of the current rules of engagement.
