It is my clinical experience that resistance to changing ideas, lifetime habits, and sound values can become a major obstacle for seniors. Seek to find ways to look at your problem area with a totally new perspective or attitude. A solution may arise before you know it. I have witnessed seniors who have found a solution to their health concerns, family conf licts, financial pressures, or even found new directions for their lives by attending a retreat, finding a spiritual renewal, talking to a treasured friend, or even during a health crisis. We must get over our rigidity, our inf lexibility, our stubbornness and see issues that need solution in a new, fresh attitude. It could mean that we join a new group of seniors, start to date if we are single, move to a warmer climate, or let someone competent manage your financial resources.
