2. Summary of recent work/practice
I am a full time Hearing Aid dispenser from past 3 years, working in a private Sector as well as for National Health Service (NHS). I provide audiological and rehabilitation services to hearing impaired adults in company branch, health care centre and on domiciliary basis.
My job role is to perform routine and complex audiological test procedures, provide general information about hearing aid system and related services to clients and their relatives. Discuss acclimatisation and habituation in a great depth; I explain possible benefits and limitation of the hearing aids.
At the end of the consultation I produce an Individual Management plan, where I Record clients agreed needs, Action taken, Outcome and Future plan i.e. follow ups or review appointment.
I have also been involved in training of Health care assistant and the branch staff. I have provided direct supervision to the Trainee Health Care Assistant (HCA) for 8 weeks, my duties were to ensure that Trainee HCA is practising safely and following BSA/BAA guidelines. In addition to this, I conduct an audiological assessment and provide independent report to the department of work and pension for clients who wish to claim compensation for Noise Induced Hearing Loss.
One of my non clinical responsibilities is to ensure the availability of up-to-date client information leaflets in the branch as well as in outline clinics in order to provide excellent service and best practice for patients. My responsibilities also include daily calibration checks, maintenance of Audiological equipment and cleaning procedures.
