The church itself was very large, which allowed several more people. On my first day in Awana, the program for kids in Christ, I was sitting awkwardly, since I didn’t know anyone. Several people were busy chatting the day away, while I was sitting alone. When they called us in, I was put with other 7th and 8th graders and sat at the unofficial “girl table.” As soon I settled in, I stared as everyone was chatting with each other-- all veterans in the church. However my luck changed quickly. The girls at the table turned from their conversations to greet me. There were comments such as, “Hey, are you new?” and “Hi! It’s nice to meet you, what’s your name?” I tried answering the questions as quickly as possible, but even my own skills couldn’t compensate. All of a sudden, I burst out laughing. It seemed awkward to me at first, but then everyone else started laughing. I then realized this was “where I was meant to be.” Later on I realized that the girls where Bethany, Meredith, Elizabeth, Kaiya, and many, many more. Soon enough I had several close friends. Every week, I look forward to seeing them again I may be able to see my other friends from Elementary, but at least I can enjoy what I have now. Now I’ll be back, I have some friends to go
