This was my freshmen year of high school. I decided I wanted to do distance for track because I joined the cross country team late my 8th grade and I was pretty good at running distance. So I ran the 800, 1600, and the 4x8. In the beginning of track season I had a problem with my heel. I went to our old trainer Keith, and he said I had a stress fracture in my heel. I asked him if I would good to run for our invitational that weekend for and he said, “yeah you’ll be fine.” That weekend we ran at harborcreek and it was about 30 degrees outside. I was running in the 4x8 and the 1600. When I was running in the relay, I felt great the first 200 and then I heard a pop in my heel. Continued to run in the race, but the longer I went the worst the pain got. It felt like I was running on glass. I passed the baton off to Corey Twichel. I went to the side of the football field and just laid there. When Twichel finished, he helped me up and took me to the trainer. The trainer said you should probably go get this checked out. I have been playing soccer for the last 14 years. From rec leagues to playing on a club team. In my middle school years I was a CM but, when I got to high school I liked playing CDM and left/right back. My sophomore year, I got a lot of playing time on varsity, and sometimes I would start for certain games. I was in a rotation with Zack Wickham and Von Peters for CDM. Depending on the type of team and the style that team played, we would switch out of roles. For example, if the team was a taller team, he would start, but if the team was small and quick, I would start. I scored my first varsity goal against East my sophomore year. And I was apart and played in Girard’s first playoff game in forever. That’s something I will not forget. My Junior year I became a full-time starter. This continued to my senior year, where I was named a Captain for the team. This helped me mature as a player more because I gained better leadership skills and helped my communication skills to other teammates. I will never forget the experience I got from playing soccer. Soccer helped me mature early because I was consistently playing against kids who were older than me since my sophomore year. I will carry the skills that soccer has taught me through my life to be the best person I can
