“Go!” a stranger yelled. Then, my instincts kicked in. I sprinted towards the edge and jumped off with an adrenaline rush like no other as I plummeted towards the rock infested waters below and plunging into the dark depths of the ocean only to be stopped by the crunch and crack of my own bones. I tried to swim to shore with cramping muscles stiff and frozen like a block of ice from shock. Thoughts begin racing through my head and I am unable to break free from the chain of fear and pain. I am at the brink of exhaustion and starting to slip away underwater and something plunges into the water lifting me from the darkness below and floating me to safety. Laying, nearly unconscious on the sand I come back to reality; looking up to find my father exhausted laying down beside me.
“Lucky” he says. “Never again you will be so lucky!” “I saved you from drowning!”
I sigh a deep breath, feeling a throbbing, shooting pain in my leg as the adrenaline subsides. “Put your arms around my neck” my father says, carrying me to the beach hospital. “If you had jumped any higher, your leg would need surgery” The doctor said. “You will need to take time off and rest for several days with no activity,” he warned.
