The night of the carnival, I had the best time with my friends rambling from one ride to another. It was a counter protest to those against immigration, Muslims, the Quran etc. Regardless of my nerves, my best friend and I armed ourselves with our feminist shirts and ‘fuck Trump’ hats and hopped on the Metra to our destination. I did not really know what to expect- of course I had seen videos of protests and the chants and everything, but it feels different once you are involved.
