That day was supposed to be like every other day, but it was not to be. I had finished Language Arts and now proceeded to Math. I casually strolled into the room and wiggled my way past the various social groups placing my binder on my desk. Some were nervous others weren’t as nervous. After presenting their answer they sat down while the rest of the class critiqued their answers. The discussion consisted of many no’s or incorrect’s from Mr. Goodreau followed by a detailed explanation of why. By the time we go to the 8th problem we an astounding 3 out of the total of 10 questions answered correctly. All three answers from very smart students so it was as expected. Ericka one of the smartest students was tasked with problem 8 and a majority of the class expected her to have the correct answer, but was thoroughly disappointed when her was found to be wrong. Erika then continued to argue her answer and while her answer was wrong the logic that was behind her answer made sense. Erika began to argue in a more and more aggravated tone.
“Does anyone know where Erika made a mistake” Mr. Goodreau asked the class?
Everyone began making conjectures about the basics of factoring and where Erika could have made a mistake. All were valid reasons, but none were correct. As the conversation went on the reasons became more absurd and out of control. Here I was thinking I’m so funny and amidst the conversation I hollard “Maybe she’s on her period”.
