While this seems like the classic embarrassing tale of high school woes, it represents a message that hit me that day (literally). Before this moment, I had been the stereotypical shy and reserved underclassman, deciding to finally take a chance by superfanning at the first game of my first year as an official upperclassman. However, going through this potential social ruin made me realize that I wasted my high school career always being afraid, always being too scared of judgment to be the person I had always been within. I have struggled thinking I won’t be able to make it through sports and school to the point where I want to give up, but then I remember that I love being involved and being outgoing now. I may be like most other teenagers, but the key to being a stronger person is all in how I take on adversity. Life is about moving on with a positive attitude and growing from the moments that knock me down, (also quite literally, as I continued to fall backwards off of the bleacher seat I was standing upon after the ball had done its damage). I realized that there’s no point in being afraid to fall or in being laughed at because chances are I’ll be laughing right along side them.
