The issue in the novel “In Ecstasy” by Kate McCaffrey was peer pressure. When you’re a teenager there is a lot of peer pressure which gets you to do a lot of crazy and dangerous things in life. In ecstasy is about two teenage girls Mia and Sophie who went through the same experience. Peer pressure was presented through these two girls and how they got into drugs because of their friends.

The language and slang felt appropriate, and there was nothing that seemed out of place. It’s understandable why Mia accepted the drugs because when you’re a teenager you want to fit in and be popular. Mia’s way to get that stand was by taking that drug but I disagree that was her only option because I’m personally against drugs due to it ruining lives and it is never an answer to anything. Mia could have said no to it but the people who were encouraging her already made her mind for her by offering and telling her to do it. Once Mia got into drugs it was hard for her to get out of it. She did more and crazy things and her whole life took a wrong turn. She started going to more and more parties, started going out with the wrong guys and along the journey she lost her best friend. The best friend knew the drugs were bad for her and she just said no when she had enough. It was wrong for the best friend to get Mia into drugs in the first place and then just leaving Mia by herself. There is an important aspect to learn from this experience of Mia which is to be careful who you make friends with. Sophie and Mia went different directions. At the beginning of the novel they were close friend, and they had been for some time, but they slowly fade away throughout the novel. Sophie is a self-confident and more popular.
