For example, a couple of the question’s they asked were, where do eggs come from? And Where dose meat come from? A good percentage of children responded the the questions by saying “The store”. The documentary Our Daily Bread was powerful because it demonstrates how and where our meat actually comes from. In this day and age, the public is usually misinformed, or more often uninformed of where their food and produce comes from.
Our daily breads power is evident thorough the whole movie. The documentary takes you on a tedious and disturbing journey from before an animal is born to the final product. The process is unnatural, for cows it starts off with collecting sperm from males. About 20 minute into Our Daily Bread it shows us the rather unnatural process. The process of collecting sperm consists of 2 cows being brought together to mate, while one of two workers uses a type of suction machine to collect the sperm. Mother cows are then impregnated and stay in a small stable until birth. Worker dissect the mother and take away the calf at birth, which are moved to small shared stables where they will spend a majority of their short life’s. The cows will be fed grains that are filled with pesticides, and bulked up with antibiotics. Eventually the cows are endlessly slaughtered, hung, cleaned, processed for meat. This unnatural and disturbing process makes a powerful statement about how old fashioned farming has evolved into modern day industrial
