I most especially would like to make it into Cornell Unvitersityś Veterinary Medicine program, an ivy league school. It is such a wonderful coincidence that Cornell is actually located in Ithaca, New York, the same name as Odysseus’ home in the Odyssey. Just as few are able to become a veterinarian, few are able to make it home to Ithaca. Odysseus’ greatest weakness was his prideful personality. He is responsible for he and his men's journeys home being cursed, because he taunted Polyphemus after already defeating him. Polyphemus prayed to Poseidon: ¨Should destiny intend that [Odysseus] shell see his roof again among his family and father land, far be that day, and dark the years between. Let him lose all companions, and return under strange sail to bitter days at home (book 9 lines 447-452)¨. I must not be prideful, because it would cause me to loose focus and slack off in school, and I might not be able to become a veterinarian.
Many obstacles that I face in my journey through life parallel obstacles Odysseus faces in the Odyssey. During my next ten years, I will faces temptations, obstacles preventing me from becoming a veterinarian, and must keep from being prideful. I have discovered how my life, and everyone´s lives can parallel with one of the greatest stories ever
