Indigenous Australians are also referred to as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia and there are several hundred groups/communities/tribes spread across Australia e.g. Ngunnawal people were the first inhabitants of Canberra, Eora people of Sydney, Alyawarre people of north east Alice Springs, Nyoongar people of Western Australia etc.
Nyoongar people are Indigenous Australians who live in the south-western corner of Western Australia (from Geraldton to Esperance) which consists of 14 different groups. They traditionally sake the Nyoongar language but generally speaks Australian Aboriginal English now.

Conflicts arose due to land seizures and followed by reprisal attacks which sparked from land-management practice (Nyoongar people setting their land on fire was misunderstood as hostility by the settlers) and killing of settlers livestock as a form of replacing dwindling stocks of native animals (which was shot indiscriminately by settlers).
• All the above escalated and resulted in the Pinjarra Massacre 1834 (conflicting reports mentioned that 60-70 men, women and children were killed) led by Captain Stirling - ended with Stirling giving the Nyoongar people a terrifying warning ("not one would be allowed to remain alive on this side of the Mountains should there be any retaliatory payback”) of allaying them. Impact of Colonisation:
• Cultural Knowledge - destruction of cultural links/identity whereby children are prevented from acquiring customs, habits, knowledge of the Aborigines hence striping them of their Indigenous identity, culture, language, land and this will will affect children ability learn and develop to be confident life long learners. Loss of identity due to alienation from culture can create an increase in anger and frustration which will in turn lead to increase in violence and lawlessness too.
• Inter-generational effects like Parenting - children who are forcibly removed were denied the experience of being parented by a person whom they were attached hence if they have not experienced parenting, it will be extremely challenging for them to parent effectively or compromised e.g they might be afraid of the dependency off their children or nervous about meeting the needs of their children because there has been no experience/history in nurturing/family caring so they might not have the emotional and social skills to do
