Nursing is one of the most remarkable professions that provides practitioners with both challenging and rewarding opportunities.
Nursing is rewarding because it give nurses opportunities to provide others with support and care. It is my strong feeling that I possess the characteristics necessary to tackle the challenging responsibilities, and I have what it takes to perform above and beyond my expectations.
I had the opportunity several years back to interact with some of the most caring, intelligent, and responsible people while visiting and looking after my ill grandmother. The nurses would care for and assist my grandmother while she recovered. I believe I am very sociable and would interact positively with people from different backgrounds and cultures such as the patients, colleagues, peers, and members of the faculty. Interacting with various people at work is one of my strongest virtues, and I am proud of the fact I find it quite easy to initiate and maintain a conversation. The third important characteristic that I possess is a strong communication skill that is necessary for nurses in advocating for their patients. An important aspect of communication skills is the ability to pay attention people so as to understand their point of view. In dealing with ailing people, strong communication skills are mandatory so as to be able to listen intently to the experiences of the patients under one’s care and, therefore, respond accordingly to their needs.
I have had a deep interest to pursue a career in nursing from the day I witnessed the caring and affectionate treatment accorded to my grandmother when she was ailing. It is my strong desire to see to it that I fulfil that dream and provide other people with the care
