The reasons for U.S. neutrality during the 1920s and 1930s is the public did not want to involve in any conflicts outside their own as WWI gave them enough for them to be in this way. WWI caused many Americans to die in the battlefield, and now they believe it was absolutely unnecessary.
In 1937, US Congress passed the second Neutrality Act which prohibited the transport of passengers and goods from the US to warren nations. US president Roosevelt requested the Cash and Carry policy where the US could sell military supplies to warren nations but they ahd pay it all in cash and transport it in their ships. President Roosevelt was able to invoke the second neutrality act to support China as the Chinese province of Manchuria was attacked by Japan. He was able to do this since they were not in conflict. I believe this so because after this quote helped the many Americans understand and realize the fact America’s involvement in the war is to “save humanity” by protecting democracy therefore should be done.
