Why Was Nelson A Great leader?
According to the definition of leadership, a leader is someone that can create an influence relationship between him/herself and the followers; which intend real transformations and results towards their shared purpose. Mandela became an international advocate for human rights, and a role model of the 20th century. And he had several qualities that worked in conjunction to make him the effective leader he became. For starters, he was self-aware. Mandela monitored his inner self by embracing his thoughts and emotions as they rose. He acknowledged the qualities in himself that people were willing to listen to. He had great storytelling skills, in other words, he was an outstanding public speaker. Strong enough to keep the revolutionary flame alive on his followers during the 27 years that he spent in prison.
Another aspect that made him a great leader was his charismatic personality. He built during years a strong emotional relationship with his followers. By guiding the love of his people for their country and their desire to create change, he played a big part helping to overthrow a discriminatory legislation.
