One in every two hundred people in the United States suffers from Hemochromatosis. Hemochromatosis is a disease that causes an overload of iron in the bloodstream. Hemochromatosis can also cause atherosclerosis which is the hardening of arteries which can lead to a heart attack. Also in the same year of 2013 over 98 million kids worldwide were helped to be vaccinated from deadly diseases including measles. Donating blood is a very powerful gift that has helped to save millions throughout history. One of the most amazing things about donating blood is that for every one donation given that one donation can save up to 3 people. Or that donation can be used to help further important research including cures for certain life threatening diseases such as cancer or diabetes. Recently with the biggest recorded outbreak of ebola in history the combined efforts between the World Health Organization or WHO and The American Red Cross association have helped to drastically reduce the spread of ebola throughout Africa, but how does this subject pertain to blood donation? Well, thanks to the stepped upped efforts of donations worldwide one of the major ways to stop ebola from further killing a person is by cycling in new blood into the body helping to stop the spread of ebola and to also help boost the immune system with fresh blood.
