Cameras have been around for hundreds of years, snapping pictures and capturing memories that people can hold on to forever. A specific type of camera that I thoroughly enjoy are Polaroid cameras. Due to the instant develops that these cameras offer, the photos that shoot out from them are usually slightly crackled and a little blurry. While some may find this condition unattractive, I treasure it. It reminds me of the time periods I dream about, where this photo quality was the best around. I always dreamed about coming across an old polaroid, whether it be from a store, or in a dusty box sitting in my grandma’s garage. Little did I know that it would not be long before this dream would come true. The day I stumbled upon my polaroid was a Wednesday back in January. Every two weeks on Wednesdays, I go visit my favorite thrift store in town, Gems and Junk. I was introduced to this place by my friend, Josie Guernsey, back in March of 2017. Every day after school I waited for the film to be delivered, and due to my excitement, the order seemed to take much longer to arrive then it actually did. When it finally came, I tore open the package and immediately inserted the new film. Thankfully all went well, and my first official picture taken with my new polaroid was a selfie of my mom and me. I was filled with joy when the picture shot out of the slit, but immediately became concerned when the entire screen of the photo was blue. However, I had so much faith in this investment and knew that this wasn’t going to be the only photo this camera would ever print.
