All you need to know is to memorize the alphabet at school. The school teachers focus on teaching us by our first language to read and to write. The language that was spoken in Sheraro, Ethiopia was “Tigrigna”. It’s not only in Sheraro, Ethiopia that teachers focus on teaching students by our first language but all other states in Ethiopia by their first language. The reason for that is because most of the subjects we learn at school are by our language. We only have one English class and we focus to learn how to read and write in English when we are in middle school. My English reading story begins when I was in 6th grade. It was in sixth grade when I had an interest in learning English. My English teacher was my favorite of all my teachers because he was the one who gave me a way to learn how to read. His name was Tasfay but all the students call him teacher Tesfaye. He was a short skinny guy with great personality. He had big brown eyes and brown skin. He was married and had two children. He was also the principle of the school. He only teaches six graders. However, when it comes to education he was a very serious man. I remember he would sometimes say to us “Kids I have told you a million times to read not to jump around in school.” Also when it’s recess time, he would tell all the students he wants to see all of us reading something not jumping and making noises
