All full time and part-time staff who are directly employed by the organisation, ii. Employees on all types of contract iii. Permanent, fixed period, locum, or temporary, iv. Seconded staff (e.g. social care staff seconded from the local authority), but only if they are on the organisation payroll,
v. Hosted staff who have a substantive contract with the organisation.
The list of staff should however exclude the following –
i. Staff who are on long-term sick leave1 on 1 September 2015; ii. All staff employed by sub-contracted organisations or outside contractors; iii. Bank staff (unless they also have substantive organisation contracts); iv. Seconded staff who are on the payroll of another organisation (e.g. social care staff who are on the payroll of the local authority);
v. Student nurses; vi. Non-executive directors
The basic sample size for the survey is decided by the number of staff that are working in the concerned organisation. This sample size is identified from the list of staff that has to be included in the survey and has been listed above. The basic sample size according to the strength of the staff at the organisation is shown in the table
