One of my noticeable weakness was while giving the lecture about the butterfly’s life cycle I didn’t stop and ask the students if they had any questions. However, I kept a conversational style while giving the lecture, but I should have pause and ask for clarification or if someone had something to say about each stage. After seeing my strengths and weaknesses, I was able to set three personal goals. The first personal goal, is to stop and reassess the lesson given before, during, and after it is given. By that, I mean, increasing the amount and quality of the student-teacher verbal interaction. For example, asking questions to the students and the students asking questions to me. Also incorporate writing and discussion workshops so that the students can help each other. Second, is to get organized. When I say organized, I don’t only mean organized with the physical material presented, but also with the ideas presented. At time when watching the video of my presentation, I noticed how I would lose my thought/idea and how it made me look discreditable and I want my student to rely on me for facts without any doubt that I am not to let them down. Moreover, start incorporating more technology to keep me well organized. For example, using videos, showing online pictures, and keeping an online notebook. In this notebook I will record the student 's progress and save ideas for future lessons. My final personal goal to self-improve is to enjoy myself when I’m teaching. I believe that if I am enjoying myself while teaching the students will get a better understanding and engage in the lesson.
