Always being resilient is a good trait to have. Sometimes we as human being can’t win everything or accomplish everything on our first attempt or even on our second and third. That’s why we got to learn to be resilient. In Paul Fleischman's Seedfolks the character the really embodies determination and perseverance is Leona. Leona shows how being tough and determined can really pay off.…
Growing up going to public school in Texas there is one thing every child fears more than any potential monsters in their closets. The State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness or STAAR test is every kids worst nightmare. The STAAR test is three days of state testing that you seem to prepare for the entire year. The hardest test always seemed to be the English exam due to one very stressful section. The writing portion made me a nervous wreck.…
One accomplishment that took a great deal of effort was lacrosse. Right from the start of freshman year, I knew that I wanted to become a good lacrosse player, enough to make an impact on the game. I did numerous clinics and leagues for two years straight, I worked as hard as I possibly could to become the player I wanted to be. Throughout my training, there were times where I felt like I was never going to be as good as I longed to be, but my family and my coach motivated me to work through because they felt that the hard work would be worth it. Whenever I was feeling like this, I would always turn to them because they reminded me of how hard I worked and how great I would feel once I felt the reward.…
My most positive high school experience for me has to be when I was inducted into National Honor Society for my senior year. This was something that I has been striving to do since my freshman year after I received my first academic letter. But after our school decided to only allow seniors to be inducted, raised the GPA requirement, and reduced the amount of people that would be allowed to be inducted I wasn’t sure if my goal would still be attainable. But after three years of strenuous classes, constant volunteer service, and keeping my grades up I finally received an acceptance letter and was inducted into NHS where I am able to surround myself with others that have the same academic goals as…
My educational and career goals are to get my certified nursing assistant degree at the end of May 2018. I then want to acquire an associate's of science in nursing at Des Moines Area Community College and then get my bachelors of science in nursing in an online course through University of Iowa at Des Moines Area Community College. I plan to work as a nurse for about 5-7 years and then go back to school to become a nurse practitioner. I plan to work at a hospital hopefully on the pediatrics floor or in the neonatal intensive care unit. Two of my most meaningful achievements happened last year when I was invited to be at the honors breakfast and honors assembly.…
I even earned the privilege of enrolling in Honors and AP courses because of my hard work. My current goals includes finishing my senior year with A’s only, becoming more of an advocate for myself, and graduating high school with an acceptance to a great…
Our school had a competition for drawing the yearbook cover, and I didn’t want to do it, but my mom encouraged me to. So I decided to slack on it, and apparently it still won. I was also ahead in math. I found it funny how our teacher was teaching us addition,…
Every person who is applying or has applied for service academy has their own individual and unique characteristics that defines who they are. The main quality that defines and sets me apart from my peers is my character. My character is what defines who I am and dictates my actions on a daily basis. I am a hardworking student like most applicants, except I am always seeking self improvement, and will always do what it takes to improve. Hard work and dedications is what drives me towards success and has so far paid off.…
One of my achievements I am most proud of is getting all A’s and A-‘s this year and getting on honor roll. I learned from these experiences that if I work really hard, people will be very proud and it can really pay off now and in the…
Senior year might be the most effort I ever put into my education, as I received a 4.0 throughout my last year in high school. This brought my accumulative GPA up so high that I was able to apply for Portland State University and get accepted. I also applied for several scholarships and financial aid programs that has really helped me to this day. These resources are something that I believe my people have been taking advantage of. One prominent resource that I have took advantage of was scholarships, specifically for Latinos.…
My life began to spiral downward before fifth grade began. I found myself an endless loop over summer vacation of waking up, experiencing the day as a blur, sleep, then repeat. This drove me to discover a new way to spend my day. On the television I noticed a recurring advertisement for a game called ‘World of Warcraft’. At first I instilled the mindset that I could spend my time pragmatically but eventually I succumbed to boredom.…
Senior year has caused me to work really hard to keep my scholarship. I've been working and putting my all into all my classes. Especially in my expository writing class, I've been succeeding in my essays and blogs. Mainly because I love writing, it gives me an opportunity to disseminate my ideas and feelings, it allows me to leave behind memories that I would look back on and re-live. Of course I'm just like everyone else and there's places I could personally improve on.…
Gordon B. Hinckley had once said something along the lines of hard work paying off, if effort is enforced into the work. Over the years I’ve had in high school I have really absorbed the aspect of this, being able to work up and achieve opportunities for the preparation in the outside world. Seventh and eighth grade having to understand the concepts in the athletic sport tennis was hard for me to comprehend. Actually being able to have proper etiquette of holding a tennis racquet was key, but being able to hit a tennis ball was a ‘whole other ball game.’ All two years of playing tennis in middle school I can not remember a single time me nor my tennis partner won a match.…
I am excited to continue my education and see where life will take me. The greatest accomplishment in my academic journey that I have obtained is, graduating with my Associates degree. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Indian River State College. I started taking college classes as a Freshman in high school and pretty soon I was only taking college classes and one or two high school classes.…
Have you ever achieved a goal of yours that has made you feel overwhelmingly proud of yourself? I have accomplished that in my life by graduating high school and receiving my Diploma. I feel this has been my greatest accomplishment in life by far due to the fact that it made my mother proud, I accomplished my benchmarks, and it even gave me a great amount of opportunities after high school. To begin, I believe that graduating high school is almost unattainable without the support of your loved ones who only want you to prosper and my mother did just that for 4 challenging years.…
