Diversity is something that should be acknowledged, accepted, understood, and taught. I believe that diversity and learning about diversity allows students to work exceptionally together. I am committed to content integration, communicating clear, high expectations and objectives, providing activities for active learning, and monitoring progress of all students. I feel that my job as an educator entitles me to teach children about diversity and acceptance by being a virtuous example. Although we all are different in many ways, we are also all similar. Learning about our connections and variances allows us to become accepting of each other. A woman who has been an immense influence in my life is my nurturing grandmother; she has always taught me to follow my dreams and inspired me to become a teacher. My father has also been an enormous influence and has taught me so much about myself. He has instilled in me the work ethic needed to succeed. I will always try my best and will work to be the best educator possible through my caring and helping nature. My Nina is a woman who has also inspired my life, by teaching me to celebrate the best in everyone and encourage others to see the worth in not only themselves but others. I am dedicated to using my future students’ differences as their strengths in my classroom. I am hoping to build a community that works together using everyone’s strengths to succeed. Volleyball has also been a sport that has affected my life for the positive and shaped who I am today; it has not only taught me sportsmanship, but also has given me the opportunity to coach for the past 6 years. Coaching has made me into a more patient and understanding individual and I believe the skills I have learned from coaching on the court will support me with teaching in the classroom. I am a woman of passion, hard work, and the love of teaching others. The only way to describe who I am as a person is to describe the people and activities that have made me who I am today. I am a more accepting, loving, and
