In “My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant” Vargas explains his situation and the struggles he had to go through as an undocumented immigrant. After Vargas found out he was an immigrant he knew working with a fake social security number is wrong and is a felony. Vargas concludes “I convinced myself all would be OK if I lived up to the qualities of a “citizen”: hard work, self-reliance, love of my country” (Vargas, 1509). This is the situation undocumented immigrants faced as they try to achieve the American dream. Vargas is sure he has the qualities of a good citizen and he is searching form empathy not sympathy in other people. In “Edward Snowden’s Real Impact” Toobin the author is not satisfied with Snowden leaking massive NSA information. Toobin determines it was not right for Snowden to break the law and obtain justice into his own hands. Toobin states “Snowden may have violated the law, but the outcome has been so worthwhile” (Toobin, 1001). Toobin wants to make it clear what Snowden did that Snowden failed to comply the formal agreement of his job as a NSA system administrator. Snowden violated the regulations he broke the code “the law.” For Toobin “the outcome has been so worthwhile” means the result of Snowden’s actions cost the government time and money. Toobin ends the quote in a sarcastic way. For some Americans “the outcome has been worthwhile” means thanks to Snowden moral responsibility now citizens know they have no privacy. Actually, the government has been monitoring all citizens. The value is Snowden wants to inform Americans to beware and to fight for their real freedom to have the right of
