Communication has many styles which can be both verbal and non-verbal form of communication. To be able to communicate as a leader, the leader must be able to be perceived as a credible leader. Being a credible leader will exert more influence and allow communication between a leader and follower to flow more smoothly (Gamble & Gamble, 2013). Along with communicating verbally and non-verbally, a transformational leader must be form a listening style to be able to communicate with his or her followers. Content-centered listening style is a listening style which will focus on the facts and details of the message. This type of listening style will also use critical listening skills, ask pointed questions, and will sometimes play devil’s advocate to be able to look at different angles of a scenario (Gamble & Gamble, 2013).
Current leadership strengths and growth opportunities are also essential for a person to accomplish becoming a transformational leader. These code of ethics are established to insure all police officers working for the department are aware of the responsibilities in which they have been awarded. These codes are to make sure an officer lives their private life like he or she does while they are duty. This would include being mindful of other individuals, being honest in thought and deed, never allowing personal feelings or prejudices to influence his or her decisions when enforcing the law, and not employ unnecessary force or violence upon individuals ("Law Enforcement Code of Ethics," 2018).
