Some believe that the flooding of the Mississippi river and drought in Africa in 1993 were due to the temperature drop. One event that was proven due to the drop in temperature was the united states having the third coldest winter on record, along with the third wettest summer (Rosenberg). Another effect of the drop in temperature was intense sunrises and sunsets. Another secondary impact were the lahars after the eruption. The lahars originally flooded low-lying areas. Due to the eruption, when there is heavy rain in the area, lahars can be triggered again even years later. This then can affect rivers, barangays, cropland and forests. Lahars also have affected the economic stability within the government. This is because of the constant mitigation and rebuilding of homes and other infrastructures.
