June 25,2015. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake strikes the capital of Nepal,Kathmandu,Everest being approximately 140 miles east of the epicenter. Avalanches started near base camp on Everest while people ran for cover from the snow,wind,and rocks. 19 died and 120 were injured. The identified people were five climbers and ten sherpas. Most injuries were caused by wind blast of Pumori and associated impact with rocks. There were smaller avalanches on the north side of the mountain but no injuries were reported.
It was also the same spot an avalanche killed 16 sherpas
