Initially, when an individual’s main ambition is to commit evil, the motivations behind it can lead to the result to potential for destruction. The atmosphere in the beginning of the play is very dark and has an ergy mystery about is. Firstly, the play starts out with the three witches in rain and lightning, hence already setting the reader up for the mood of the play: fear and anticipation. Macbeth was very highly liked and considered a noble subject, honourable soldier, and loving husband, as he was greeted by the king, partaked in killing Macdonwald, and had everyone wrapped around his finger. Macbeth would often show his appreciation for Lady Macbeth by writing her letters, yet in these letters we see “if you love me you’ll do it” meaning that Lady Macbeth is the boss of him and holds the most power. Lady Macbeth, on the other hand, pursues her goals with greater determination, yet she is less capable of withstanding the repercussions of her immoral acts.
