The structure of this poem is extremely different from “Mother to Son” poem.The poem is made up of four stanzas. In each stanza there is a different person’s prospective of the situation, the first stanza was in the father's point of view, the second one was in the kids prospective, the third stanza was in the mother's point of view, the last stanza was either said by the mother or the father. Additional it’s a free verse poem which means it has no rhythm. To make the poem more interesting the writer used allusion to paint a picture of what the kid sees in the second stanza, he referred to the father as a giant ogre going down a long tree and plotting to trap him. Does that sound familiar? it should, the writer used the story “Jack in The Bean Stack” to show readers how the kid is viewing his father. Another device the writer used in his poem would be alliteration, he used words that start with the same letter a few times, one of them would be “colossal cruel”. “Little Boy Crying” has a complex language and would appeal to people in their late teens and over, it also appeals to parents and any care
