She brings out the plight of farmers in India as an example and the adverse effect of GMO, genetically modified organisms. She protests strongly against the ideology being propagated by food processing companies and bio-technology labs aiding these companies. These companies in the name of globalization and industrialization are exploiting the local farmers. Obviously they are backed by the respective government. Not only are they being supported by government but also by bodies like WTO, IMF and EU. These regulatory bodies are just a façade that dupe people into their cunning policies which are mostly business driven. But then who is responsible to educate them about the issue? The corrupt government, greedy corporate, media that is a puppet in the hands of both of them or social activists who earn almost nothing from their campaigns and have also quit their prominent jobs like Vandana Shiva. I think the one who is not making excess money is the correct one. They should realise that if they keep on exploiting these poor and helpless people, the issue is going to get much worse. It may even lead armed rebellion as there is nothing more harmful than a hungry and angry individual. A lot of disturbance happening around the world today is because of this human exploitation. It is the responsibility of the intelligent, powerful and rich to enable and educate the weaker sections of society rather than exploiting their agony. They are not an object to be used. Just because they are not at par with other fellow humans doesn’t make them eligible for exploitation. This is what makes us, humans, different from animals and if we forget this then we must be ready for an animal fight which I must say has already started to erupt. We better know it as terrorism.
