W followed Lab safety procedure by wearing the proper “PPE”. Module 6 analysis based on the concept of the titrant (known concentration solution) will add to the known quantity of analyte (unknown concentration solution) until the reaction is complete (method 8202).
We selected a volume of (100) ml for both of the sample and the duplicate, the volume of the unknown concentration solution is decided, by going back to the Range-specific information table (page IV) and locating our sample volume (see highlighted fields), we picked the titration cartridge with a concentration of (1.600) and multiplier number (1.0), now we are ready to conduct the analysis.
- We Draw about (110) ml of the unknown solution from the churn splitter (avoid …show more content…
- Since the meter calibrated for pH and conductivity before, we repeated the above steps on the duplicate, we wrote down the reading in the lab data sheet. We were ready for the titration analysis according to (method 8202).
- First, we set up the titration apparatus, by setting up the Ring stand with universal clamp, we placed the magnetic stirrer on the ring stand and plugged in, followed by placing the magnetic stir bar into the Erlenmeyer flask.
- We sidled the sodium Hydroxide titration cartridge (1.600 ± 0.008 N) into the HACH digital titrator and slightly turned to lock the cartridge, followed by recapping the titration cartridge and inserting the delivery tube (G tube) into the digital titrator.
- We engaged the titrator piston into the titration cartridge by releasing the plunger button and turned the delivery knob slowly until the air was expelled (air bleeding process) then followed by resetting the digital counter back to zero and we cleaned the tip by using Kim
