Courage, the very noun used to describe our ability to defeat or surpass our fears. Courage may have a small definition, but examples of courage may seem small at first, but can make a great impact. Some examples of courage would be like protecting a loved one or standing up for something you feel is right. Acts of courage always involve risk. Courage is like a virus. If a person is courageous then there is a chance that others may follow.
A specific example of a person who showed a great courage is Minerva Mirabal from the novel, In the Time of the Butterflies. She showed more courage than any of her three sisters. Win a talent contest. The prize is to perform their play at the capitol in front of Trujillo himself. When they performed their play, one of Minerva's friend, Sinita, was supposed to shoot imaginary arrows at imaginary enemies. Instead, she walked up to Trujillo and shot imaginary arrows at him. Ramfis, Trujillo son, broke her bow in half and asked why Sinita she did that. Minerva’s courage came when she lied saying,”It was part of the play.” By doing so she made herself a threat to Trujillo.
Rafael Trujillo is a dictator and leader of the Dominican Republic. Trujillo took control of the Dominican Republic in 1891 to 1961.
Another show of courage involves father. She had found out that her father was seeing another woman,not to mention he was keeping letters from her. The letters were coming from a man named Lio who was rebelling against Trujillo. Minerva had become very interested with Lio,so finding both of those things made her so mad. That she had enough courage to take their pick-up, drive over to the house where her father and the woman were at and rammed her dad's new jeep. When she did this I think that it may have made her stronger looking than her own
