Ethical Issues on Modern Meat Production In recent times, the ethics of food production and where it comes from has been a heated topic to discuss. Where our food comes from controls us more than we know. These food industries manipulate and advertise their unhealthy meals of burgers and chicken sandwiches to the American people. The rise of the fast food industry in last century has created more problems than solutions that impacts us today. Fast food industries have created more people that have attributed in becoming more lazy, sick and unhealthy. Not only have they caused these issues, but they are the ones who leading the causes of climate change and global warming.

Over time, man has fished, farmed, or hunted animals to eat. Today, this still carries true but to a different extent. We are producing more animals today so that fast food industries are able to feed us humans. For the fast food industry, they needed to create a faster process of farming animals for their meat and also not getting more people sick along the process. Today, they use unethical ways of carrying about this process. Taking a closer look at where our food starts has changed greatly in the past 100 years. Cows, chickens, and other animals used to see daylight and graze upon the land. Today, that’s a different story where animals are now locked in dark confined spaces with limited food and lots of antibiotics and hormone supplements. It’s not to say that we can’t eat meat anymore, but the facts state that we, humans, need to cut down on producing meat. Farming uses too many resources such as feeding a few live stocks more food than people in the world and using too much fresh water (Hhan, Thich- Thay, p.2) and has caused many diseases to humans and many more than have still yet to be discovered. After this class and the course readings, I have now cut down on consuming meat and only eat meat back home. I only consume BBQ from cows that I know who have been treated properly and humanly back home. It’s just one little step for me in cutting down all meats from my life. As I’ve learned throughout this course is that it only takes one person to create a huge change. Knowing that there are thousands of other people who cut down on meat consumption has already created a new and better future for our world. It’s a long ways away, but I do believe it’s possible to reverse climate change and save our
