“Mr. Cunningham’s basically a good man,” he said, “he just has his blind spots along with the rest of us.” (179.) By saying this Atticus is trying to teach Scout that even though Walter Cunningham may be a friend of the Finches, he’s not perfect. This further proves the point that even people who seem good contain evil in them.
Something in my life that has made me think about the coexistence of good and evil is my dog Ringo. My family adopted Ringo, a yellow english lab, from a show dog breeder when he was a year old. Immediately we knew he had some problems. Ringo would freak out whenever he saw a man with a beard or someone wearing a hat. He also became very protective over my family and thought it was his job to protect us from everything, even if it wasn’t a threat. Ringo calmed down a bit until one day in June 2014. My mom was taking Ringo for a walk around our neighborhood and she walked past my neighbor who was standing outside. My neighbor began to approach my mom who told her to stay back because my other dog Louie would probably jump on her. Ignoring my mom's advice, the woman continued to approach and like my mom predicted, Louie jumped on her. The woman proceeded to scream, and Ringo saw that as a threat so he turned around and bit her leg. Even though Ringo is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever met, he still can be evil
