(type of research – experiments; survey [type of sampling?]; in-depth interviews; participant observation; historical/ comparative) Type of data/ research: Study one was an Experimental test to find if men/woman who found their masculinity/femininity threatened would adopt more masculine/feminine attitudes.
Sample size: One hundred and eleven people (60 women and 51 men) at a large, Eastern private university.
Male/female Participants in experiment one were given self-report gender identity surveys, and random-determined feedback in sealed envelopes from their survey as to wither their responses on a scale 0-50 were more feminine or masculine. Next step was to see how comparative feedback effects participants' responses on subsequent surveys (specifically male/female participants' responses to the male oriented question of the Iraq war, views of homosexuality, and interest in purchasing and SUV.
