The United States Congress have passed laws that protect the rights of African Americans. These types of laws allow them to be free of segregation and live equally to everyone around them. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is an example of how African Americans have equal right (Racism Timeline.) The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is not a one year law, the Congress continuously renews this act. The Fair Housing Act which is also known as the title 8 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects individuals and families from discrimination in the sale rental financing or advertising of housing (Fair Housing Act).This act also disallows discrimination regarding race, color, religion, family status, and national origin . Another example of a law passing that is in the favor of African Americans is The Equal Employment Opportunity Act was passed in 1972. The Equal Employment Opportunity Act was passed to help people obtain jobs without being judged on the color of their skin, family background, nationality, and religion. Yes we still have these problems that exist but we have made even more improvement. We now have a black president that runs the United States of America, with President Obama being in office he has helped to improve equality and freedom. He has helped to have a positive change on the people. There are still problems in the world but they all don’t apply to African Americans. We are never going to have a perfect and equal justice system. There are always going to be biased people in the world but then again that applies to all races, religions, and
