On January 30, 1956, Martins house was bombed. In this situation, many people would have reacted to the bombing with anger and weapons. Once Martin saw what had happened to his house, he went outside to the outrageous crowd and said,” We are not advocating violence. We want to love our enemies. I want you to love our enemies. Be good to them. We must hate with love.” It’s very easy to talk about being peaceful. It is very hard to actually go through with being peaceful. Many things happened to Martin; he could have easily just quit or became a violent person like many others during that period. Martin exhibited many leadership qualities and led black and whites through trials of peaceful protest. A hero is not somebody who does what is right when it is the easiest and most accepted choice.
