In a valiant effecort to end racial inequality in the 1960s, King initiated many boycotts, nonviolent resistance movements, peaceful demonstrations, sit-ins, and gave many eloquent speeches denouncing the evils of racial segregation. King's efforts were not spurred by any selfish desire to attain or exercise power over others.
