Police officers in Cleveland, Ohio forced their way into Dollree Mapp’s home without a search warrant after being refused admission. The officers believed there was a suspect and equipment from a bombing-case in the home. The officers conducted a thorough search and found literature that could be used against Mapp for a conviction. The Ohio Supreme Court upheld Mapp’s conviction. The American Civil Liberties Union filed an amicus brief on behalf of Mapp to the Supreme Court.
