What are the major problems facing the Social Security system? What are the solutions to these problems? [Worth 20 points]
The United States has some major issues concerning the Social Security system. The number of retirees is growing, and they are living longer lives. The pay-as-you-go system, which was created in 1937 as the Federal Insurance Contribution Act, will eventually not be able to cover all the cost of OASI. The surplus money in the Social Security Trust Fund is already shrinking dramatically. We are having a difficult time trying to keep these funds available to those who contribute to it. What is US foreign policy, and what are two twenty-first century threats to US national security interests? [Worth 20 points]
There have been quite a few U.S. national security issues in the twenty-first century. Two recent ones are al-Qaeda and computer hacking from China. These two things have impacted our country and is still currently affecting this nation. Al-Qaeda is a radical international Islamic fundamentalist terrorist organization, and the Chinese hacking explains itself. These have led to the United States improving their foreign policy.
Al-Qaeda took credit for the bloodshed on September 11, 2001. After this tragic event of New York being attacked, the United States was out for revenge. They targeted al-Qaeda, and they knew Osama bin Laden, a Saudi millionaire living in Afghanistan, was the engineer of the attacks. Our mission was to overthrow the Islamic fundamentalist Taliban regime, which provided terrorists training grounds.
