Shakespeare uses important events in the play to highlight the interesting characteristics of the main characters. Although Macbeth has many personalities, evolving consistently, the play reveals many intriguing characters. Each of them possesses qualities that make them unique. Lady Macbeth is an ambitious woman, yet as the plot unfolds, she becomes the exact opposite compared to her character in the beginning of the play . Also, Banquo is a character who remains pure throughout the play. When faced with the truth of the prophecies, he resists temptations, whereas Macbeth over analyzes the situation.
