Nemo is a special fish for one impactful and unique way, because of the damage his egg sustained as a baby he has a smaller and less useful “lucky fin” that makes Marlin worry and be even more protective over his son.
Nemo as a child and seemingly young adult are lonely, his father who had to grow into the role of a parent to quickly and in a dramatic fashion has put overprotective restrictions over Nemo making him feel secluded and cut off from the rest of the world and his friends his age. Marlin is scared of the ocean and because of this Nemo is cut off from activities that normal kids would enjoy. Jack is a fun loving very bright child who in turn loves his mother. Jack has only known Room to be his home and when his Ma tells him that it is time to leave and he is the only way that they both can escape fear and loneliness are what truly rule over Jack's emotions. His mission as a child of only five years old is to go to a strange new place, Outside and make a daring escape that requires courage and strength. What truly expresses the emotional response of loneliness and helplessness is when Jack is finally free of Room and is told he is living with his Grandmother a woman who is just as much of a stranger as any other person from the Outside.
