Curley’s wife is the Loneliest characters in the novel because her need for attention and companionship leads to her fatal end, Or was it Just a fatal attraction? In the story Curley’s wife states that when she was in the barn with Cookie, Candy, and Lennie she stated how she was lonely and just wanted someone to talk to. Steinback displays Curley’s wife desperate yourn for a friend “Think I don't like to talk to somebody ever sonce in awhile , Think I Like to stick in that house alla time.”(pg.77)Steinback Curley’s absent is forcing her to scavenge for a someone somebody wherever or whoever it is, just like a racoon would scavenge for food. Who knows she was aware of all her action, from the moment she stepped into Crook’s room to when she was killed by a man child.
