Consensus seeking is when “A situation in which all group members have a part in shaping and are willing to support a group decision”(diane pg317). This was evident through many group activities such as the paper plate activity, or through fixing problems through using a new problem solving technique. The group was given an activity to find a problem and to solve it by using technics they learned in class. As the group got together ideas started flowing and eventually came up with an excellent problem. The group chose to go with julissas rat infestation at her job. The consensus seeking method of decision-making worked well four the group members and gave them freedom to speak openly. Without communication then things can be chaotic. All though this group was a group that was more of a learning type group there where many things that they did that allowed for great communication for amongst the four. One of the things that allowed them to work well with each other was to work with each other through the virtual world of texting and emails. In using emails and texting one another work could be done without having each member of the group take more time out there day to communicate what they have been working on .Through texting and “email group members interacted from great distances”(p280 diane ). The only problem this possessed which was also something the group needed to work on was the misinterpreting of the brainstorming process of the presentation. Although it was very convenient and effective once everyone new what they where doing it was “ineffective for brainstorming and prioritizing, making difficult decisions and solving complex problems”(p281 diane). In these out comes face to face was very much preferred. On that note it also would seem that the group could do a little better in expressing there thoughts when it counted. For example when it came to agree on what topic was going to be done for the group presentation no body wanted to confront jullissa and tell her that this was not exactly what the idea the group was disusing through the text and emails.
