Northouse stated that to be a managerial leader, besides problem-solving skills, a leader needs to have social judgment skills. For instance, he/she needs to understand others’ attitudes in solving problems, aware the goals and demands of employees to motivate them by incentive, have flexible behavior to meet new changes, and able to communicate with others about their perspectives. After reading Holmberg and Tyrstrup, I understand what is managerial leadership.
