Children from Liberia and America, were tested with a cultural-specific list of words, given to them by their teachers. There was also a group of LIberian kid that were uneducated who were tested. These words were also placed within a story.
The educated children from both countries had similar results and used chunking to remember the words. The uneducated students of LIberia, had better results, when these words were placed into a story.
